| well i just came back from japan after iwas there for 1 year and my last memory was a party with him and he just make the people go wild we talked in the end of the party and he invited me to his home where he stay there at the north it was my pleasure to meet such a big trance artist and such a wonderfull person

| As my recent review of the solar tribe fest this will be my first cd review in english before croatian(you will excuse my grammar mistakes especially coz I can't describe some sounds like I would in Croatian). Maybe not because I feel this cd to be special for its music, just because I think cosma deserves such a review. The cover artwork of the cd is nice, nothing really special but it really goes with the name cosma. And Hom-Mega have really gone far out with stickers, posters and a special inlay for those dj cd cases.
01. The Time has Come This name is kind of ironic, it really gives this track a different meaning now. A shame it's a sad one. But I'll say right from the start that I'm not going to give this album a bigger rating just because of what happened. Anyways the tracks starts with a voice sample saying: "the time has come" and a nice mellow beat a bit slower than usual and of course the trademark cosma sounds, those really nice spacey melodies, but this time they are more darker and deeper. Then after a while some great percussions come in the background along with a stronger beat and start lifting the track higher. Also some really nice scratchy bleeps come in the background and the voice sample comes again. After a while there is this really great but silent melody in the background, after a while it gets more and more attention. Then there is a really nice break in the track and the only thing you hear are those melodic acordic sounds with the scratches and the track starts off again slowly driving till the end. Very nice intro track, maybe not that dynamic as other tracks but a lot darker than anything I've heard from cosma before. 02. Lemon Light This track starts off with some scratches but these are a bit anoying, but a nice melody soon fills the background and some really cool drumwork starts in the background, the melodic sounds keep fading in and out until the beat starts. But those scratches are really bothering me, don't feel like they really fit into the track. Anywayz this track sounds a bit different from the first one, the beat mainly is a bit more progressive and it's really nice, coz the last track was more full on. Random percussive sounds keep apearring then about halfway through there is a nice short break but it continues again. It's a bit wierd but some sounds I hear in the background really remind me of some progressive trance artists. After a while these really cool distorted scratchy sounds appear and they blend really nice into the track. There is a break followed by the first scratchy sounds that I didn't like and then it starts again more heavily with all the elements that I described before, hey, this really is a progressive track :) 03. Freedom I think this would be my favorite track on the cd. It starts kinda slow but the beat is here is perfect. This track is more progressive than any other. there are some nice noises in the background but then suddenly a really fantastic and groovy percussion appears that just blows me away, this is something that you would normally only hear in a son kite (or any big progressive trance artist) track. It just works perfectly, the percussive elements keep lifting up the track while the mellow melodies fill the background. I can't stand still while listening to this one. Some short scratches appear but then the driving melody just takes everything over. I don't think I've ever heard a more spacey melody than this one. Near the middle there is a short break and the track sort of comes back to the progressive nature, it keeps slowly building up with more percussions and distortions. In the middle there is a break with some bleeps and then the voice sample comes in saying: "the land of freedom" I guess this is Avihen's voice, it sounds like an israeli voice. Then after a while the melody kicks in again just moving you from one side to another and after a long break the tracks starts again with the percussions and beat and ends slowly with those great percussions from the start. Fantastic stuff, definetly my favorite track on the album. 04. Nonstop This track is definetly more of a full on one. The beat is a lot darker and more powerfull and most sounds in the background sound scary and they echo. But then suddenly a really cool voice manipulated sample kicks in and kinda lifts the track. Also some short synth sounds appear and the track starts to sound more vibrant. Some sounds are a bit retro and even electro influenced. But halfway through there is little change, it just keeps driving with all the scary and deep sounds. After a while there is a break but this time only the beat stays with some simple melodies. Then a new short bleep sound comes in along with some children voices, suddenly there is a really strong percussion that keeps building up and the track starts to really get agressive and mainly stays that way till the end. Nice track but not really as good as I expected, in any case, great dancefloor material. 05. Ethno-Bialick Now comes the ambient track with some nice echoing tribal sounds. It does sound a bit to empty but it really has a very deep atmosphere. Some voice samples come in but they only moan in the background and they are the only thing that keeps this track a bit more dynamic coz the background almost never changes, it just stays on a simple pattern, after a while there is a break and the voice samples get a bit stronger. Suddenly everything stops and the main theme melody comes in and it's really well...cosmic :) now things start to get a lot better coz there is also a nice piano part that reminds a bit on the old infected sounds. The track is really a sad one but I'm sure I'll play it in my chill out sets. It's really nice to end a set with. 06. People on Hold After a short intro some fantastic drumwork starts, but soon after that a full on beat appears. This one doesn't sound that deep but it is more powerfull. After a while even more percussions start to appear and the track slowly builds up. After two minutes there is a short break and a cosma melody appears. Then some really compressed sounds appear and suddenly it just goes off. I kinda don't like the acid like sounds that make this track really full on. But the background melodies appear again and they really help the atmosphere in the track. But overall this track is a bit too boring for me, even though there is another really nice melody after a while I didn't find this track that special, but again, it's nice dancefloor material. 07. Keep Going This track is the fastest one on the album and it's really agressive. But I really didn't like the voice sample. Soon after the intro some really great snares appear and soon after some percussions as well. This track is really really agressive and fast. Some nice short synth appears and everything is driving nicely. There is a longer break and some cosmic sounds appear but nothing too fancy. Then the percussions start building up again and the track starts again. It just keeps driving like this till the end, not much diversity but it's just filled with energy. The voice samples starts to appear again and this time I really don't like them. After a break it starts again in the same way it did before and stays that way till the end. Really powerfull stuff, perfect for the dancefloor. But a bit too fast for me, DJs please lower the pitch when playing this one ;) 08. Yok Yok This one starts kinda funny, with some nice beep noises. The beat is more full on but it's filled with really high percussions. Then a great voice sample comes in that says: "listen up, you're here for one reason and one reason only...you know what that is...it starts with w...it's to work" then it just blows you away. This one is definetly one of my favorite tracks on the album coz of the great diversity of the percussive elements in the background. It's really dynamic and powerfull at the same time, even though the beat isn't too hard and too fast. In the middle there is a break with some scary echoing sounds but the percussions keep going in the background. Then they lift the track and it starts again with...hey...this is a son kite sample...seems he took the sound that son kite made in their remix of his track Out Of Range and added a bit of a flanger noise. But it just appears for a brief moment. Then after a break with only the melody playing the track starts to build with some acid like sounds and really compressed percussions and it goes off again and stays that way till the end. The most dynamic track on the album for sure and one of my favorites. 09. Minimal Vertical The last track has a longer intro and some nice synth sounds again. The beat is good and sounds more progressive I guess. Then some really great percussions kick in and this time they really get the full attention they need. They blend so perfectly with the beat I don't remember when anyone made them sound this good. Then this really cool synth sound comes in..or should I say brings it down...and it starts again, really driving forward. Some nice bleeps come in along with some really short voice sample. There arent many melodies here but it just sounds so diverse with all those percussions and short sounds. About halfway through the track the melody comes in but it stays mostly in the background. There is a break and the melody gets is 5 seconds of glory :) Now the beat starts again with a much stronger groove. This is what I really like, when tracks keep exchanging certain background and foreground elements. Anyway it just keeps driving nicely towards the end but the percussions are a bit more in the background this time. Also one of my favorites on the album. All in all this album is definetly one of the most original ones I've heard in quite a while, and not because of the full on sounds or the progressive sounds...it's because it blends them both in a fantastic way and really makes them work together. I think artists today should learn from this example and maybe open their eyes a bit when working on certain track elements. For me the biggest surprise here came when I heard how good the progressive percussions in the freedom track blended in with the melodic full on sounds. Avihen was clearly opened for all ideas. I wouldn't give this album a perfect grade because some tracks are a bit too boring and maybe not made for home listening. Even though I know I would dance like crazy on all of these tracks sometimes it has to have a little extra special something that will make you like it at home as well. But for DJs this is an absolute must have. So I will say 9/10 Will miss your great talent Avihen Boom! |

| Great album, All the tracks are great, The yok yok sample "To Work" really kicks hard at parties.
It is sad to know that this was his last album it sounds like he had a lot more to give. |

| OMG this album is totally beautiful, awesome landscapes of sounds floating on light-crispy rhythms. Me and my girlfriend adore both of Cosma's album. It's so much feelings and emotions in his music. We can relax to a tune, goe crazy to the next because of the irresistible, pushing motive power! Then after going mad and loosing your body to the music, one of those awesome breaks steps in.. And we go back to relaxing and just floating around, expanding our minds to these blending soundscapes. |
