Witchcraft are Itzik Levy (Sandman) and Rami Shapira (Chakra).
They met through a mutual friend who was the bass player in a band Itzik used to play in. They started working together on some tracks. They made few tracks and then moved to Tel Aviv, where they set their studios with Orphaned land (Itzik's metal band), who also lived in the same house. Hed Artzi (one of the biggest record companies in Israel), through their electronic music sub-label Headroom, signed them on a contract for an album (that was never really made as Headroom died quickly). Their first track was Magic Frequencies that immediately left its mark on the Psychedelic trance scene. Then came Whale and the legendary Eastern Rain. All 3 tracks can be found on Trance Addiction (Headroom, 1994) and these tracks also appeared on numerous compilations, among them: Trance Mixim, Goa Head 1, Infinity Hz, Excerpts From the Databass and Goa Trance vol.3 and Retro. Later they released Witchcraft Magic that appeared on Order Odonata- Technical Use of Sound in Magick. Witchcraft also released Magic Frequencies EP on Matsuri (1994), being one of the first Israeli trance acts to release overseas.
Witchcraft music is still being played today in clubs and parties, and even served as a sound track to some TV shows (Star Sports, f.e.). The guys didn't get to work together for a long time, but lately decided to do some more work together, and that leaves us all waiting…..
