When I first looked at the tracklist it seemed like yet another boring formulated compilation. I heard so many of those before.. At a more careful look you'd some some acts which are known to usually be better than average. The cd asks to be played out loud, so this is what I did.
First track is On Your Marks by the French Silicon Sound. This is a nice morning opener track, may sound more like Logic Bomb at some points actually, perfect to put you in the mood for the rest of the cd. Track 2 is a collaboration between Vibra and VOR, called 2Hi in here. Usual Brazilian sounds - very tribal and percussion oriented. Slow evolution, too slow sometimes actually. Point makes a track in the same style, but much better in my opinion. Good night digging music, different from what you usually hear. The fourth track is Chanting by Z Machine. An excellent track! Great groove, great sounds, amazing melodies and most of all - vibe! There is plenty of vibe, which can move even the dead. Eskimo joins Vlado, the label manager for track 5 - Jinja Ninja. This one's a usual Eskimo track, breaks and groove but there is a dark touch to it, and I mean a real dark touch to it. Not like all those fake "dark" tracks out there today. Track 6 is Parrket - When the Northern Hoards Arrive. This is the only new name to me here so I didn't know what to expect. Unfortunately I wasn't too impressed. Sounds like a combination of the Eskimo and Point tracks actually, or a lost track from early Hommega compilations. Track 7 is here and we're back to Z Machine. Not as good as his previous track in this compilation, but it's hard to top it anyway. This one is a solid track as well, good for both the feet and the mind. Alternative Control are up next with Pukka Musica. I've heard a lot about them but never heard anything from them, until now. I was surprised - this is a great track. Good production, good melodies. This one's going to be a hit for sure, but the best is yet to come. The final track for this compilation is one of the best tracks I've heard in a long long time. I already know Sixsense's previous releases which are excellent and this one is no exception. Remember this name - Sixsense. Buddha Space is emotional, groovy, melodic, everything you want in a track. A great way to finish the compilation. |
